Theft In A Taxi
Man Robbed Off Casino Winnings On Ride Home
A Louisiana man was the victim of robbery after enjoying a promising night at a casino.
The victim told the police authorities that he fell asleep at the back of a taxi on his way home. He later woke up to a man dragging him out of the vehicle while hitting him on multiple occasions.
Before the incident, the victim in question had told taxi driver Brandon K. Grant that he had a lucky streak at the casino, and as such he won $15,000, according to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Unfortunately, for the victim, he fell asleep while riding the taxi. He said he woke up to a man hitting him, and dragging him out of the taxi.
The sheriff’s office reports that the victim was robbed of his winnings, and two mobile phones.
From the description the victim gave to the police, a suspect by the name Fergus A. Bushnell, 41 was identified.
According to the description, the 41-year-old appeared to have had a gun in the waistband of his pants. He mentioned he tried to forcefully gain entrance into the taxi by grabbing the car door handle but was dragged a certain distance as Grant drove away.
The police quickly apprehended Grant a couple of hours later, and subsequently tracked down Bushnell. Both Grant and Bushnell were later arrested.
While Grant was charged with second-degree kidnapping and robbery, Bushnell was charged with principal to second-degree kidnapping and robbery.
More Crimes
Recent times have seen the rise of theft around some casinos in the Louisiana area. Last month, two guys aged 23, and 30 were arrested for robbing a woman of $10,000. Authorities advise that people should exercise caution when coming in and out of a casino, and by no means disclose any of their winnings to anyone.
