Japan’s Draft Casino Regulations Approves Nine Games

Casino Regulators Present Gaming List 

Japan’s Casino Regulatory Commission has presented a list of nine casino games that will be allowed within the nation’s casino. In what will come as a surprise to many some notable traditional Japanese games like mahjong, pachislot and pachinko are exempted from the list. 

The nine games given the greenlight are include 21 variants of games currently prohibited in Japan but will soon be allowed in the country as part of the government’s internal revenue development plans. The Casino Regulatory Commission’s draft regulations include blackjack (4 types), baccarat (2 types), poker (8 types), casino war, Sic Bo, pai gow, craps, money wheel, and electronic games. 

Next month, will see the acceptance of feedback on the draft regulations. After which, final changes to the regulations will be made. 

In a bid to sustain social credibility, the regulations also asks for background checks on prominent stakeholders and executives of casino. The entire process will involve comprehensive investigations on financial records and criminal records.

As a way to combat gambling problem and addiction, casino operators will mandated to ban users susceptible to gambling addiction for up 12 months. Users can also be limited to a few visits monthly. In addition, each operator will have a consultation desk that will be open to anyone that wants to talk about gambling addiction. 

The casino regulatory commission draft mentions that operators should display current time of all guests. ATMs will be banned. In regards to casino compensation and incentive programs, the regulatory draft mentions, “Nothing that could potentially arouse the passion for gambling may be included.” However, no details are mentioned.
