Tourism Agency Warns Against Visiting Las Vegas
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is emphasizing on the importance of vaccinations. The LVCVA wants people to know the importance of vaccinations to individual lives, and the tourism industry at large. The authority wants to work with various health personnel to increase vaccination sites at various hotel casinos.
The recent coronavirus numbers is putting the entire industry on red alert. Various states are battling with their issues and challenges. The goal right now is to get as much people vaccinated as possible.
Billy Vassiliadis of Las Vegas-based R&R Partners ad agency said “states are having their own challenges of getting their own people vaccinated.”
R&R recently signed a new deal that will see it remain as the LVCVA’s advertising and marketing agency.
Vassiliadis insists that there is a lot of visibility on Las Vegas.
“You can talk about Vegas, but Florida — and I’m not casting aspersions on anybody else — is such a big tourism destination, and Orlando is one of our significant convention competitors, and they have numbers that are worse than ours,” he said.
New Delta Variant
The new delta variant is spreading. Officials in Los Angles and several other locations are warning people about visiting Nevada due to the slow rate of vaccination and ne COVID-19 cases.
“I do want to recommend — especially if you’re unvaccinated — reconsider traveling to places where the seven-day COVID-19 case rates are increasingly high, like Nevada, our neighbor,” said Dr. Muntu Davis, a Los Angeles health official.
Last Friday, Nevada reported a thousand new cases, a five months record high.
As the spike increases, officials are pushing for more vaccination.
Mask Up
The Nevada Gaming Control Board has stressed the need for casino employees to mask up. The mask mandate wa passed down by the chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, J Brin Gibson.
“As a partner in the mitigation and management of the COVID-19 pandemic since its inception, the Board is fully supportive of the Southern Nevada Health District and the Clark County Commission in its mask mandate for employees in Clark County. The Board will ensure compliance with this requirement in Clark County within the Board’s areas of jurisdiction,” Gibson said.
According to Vassiliadis, The virus poses a huge threat to the casino industry.
“We know that we’re doing everything we can to get people here vaccinated, and now employees are going to be masked,” he said. “Some of the properties have 90 percent vaccination rates among employees.”
